Lead On: A Campaign for TCU

Oct. 23, 2020

Dear Horned Frog Family,

We hope you and yours are healthy and safe.

October 24 marks one year since we celebrated the community launch of Lead On: A Campaign for TCU, the most ambitious philanthropic campaign in the university’s nearly 150-year history with a bold $1 billion goal to drive support for Texas Christian University’s people, programs and endowment.

What an unexpected year it’s been for all of us in the TCU community and beyond. The ongoing global health crisis has created extraordinary circumstances and significant challenges for so many. While devastating and unparalleled, this pandemic also has provided opportunity for Horned Frogs to become a force for the greater good.

Through it all, philanthropy has helped us weather this storm. Friends like you have come through in support of our people and programs in really important ways as illustrated below.

We are humbled by the nearly 47,000 donors who have invested more than $677 million in TCU through campaign efforts to date. This extraordinary achievement was made possible by the generosity of leaders like you. Approximately 65 percent of that total is designated for people and programs, and $225 million of which is designated for new endowed funds. To learn more about the campaign, including stories of our inspiring students, faculty and staff who are taking the lead on our future, visit leadon.tcu.edu/campaign/stories.

We are thankful for your commitment to TCU, and in these challenging times, we are especially appreciative of your steadfast support of our students, faculty and staff. Together, we are creating hope in the midst of great challenges and making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and, through them, the world.

For TCU, the mission to impact the greater good has never felt more urgent. And it will take all of us doing our part to spread the word, give what we can, and help mobilize a passionate army of ambassadors. By leading the charge, we can lead the change.

To quote Campaign Co-Chair Ron Parker, “Let’s finish what we started.” Lead On!

Take care of yourselves and each other.

Sincerely,

Don Whelan
Vice Chancellor for University Advancement

Horned Frog Shares her Gratitude

A year ago, Kianna Ray, then standout senior student-athlete for TCU Women’s Basketball and Pillar of Purple Award recipient, helped us launch Lead On: A Campaign for TCU. She has since been recognized as a nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year, graduated with a degree in strategic communication and is pursuing her dream while representing TCU across the world. Kianna has this special message for her Horned Frog family.
