Campbell Finalizes Staff with Hire of Nia Jackson as Assistant Coach

Jackson worked alongside Campbell at Oregon from 2018-2020

FORT WORTH – The inaugural TCU women's basketball coaching staff in the Mark Campbell era is complete, as the newly-minted head coach announced the hire of Nia Jackson as an assistant coach on Friday.

Jackson spent the 2022-2023 campaign as an assistant coach at Grand Canyon following a year-long assistant coaching stint at Boise State. Prior to her tenure with the Broncos, Jackson served alongside Campbell and TCU associate head coach Xavier Lopez for two seasons at Oregon as the Ducks' director of creativity. A star point guard at Oregon from 2008-2012, Jackson also worked with TCU assistant coach Minyon Moore, the Ducks' point guard in 2019-2020.

"We are thrilled to add Nia to our coaching staff," Campbell said. "She is a tireless recruiter who has built relationships all across the country. She will work closely with Minyon in developing our guards. Nia is a rising star in the industry, and we are excited to have her with us."

Jackson helped GCU further manifest itself as a premier mid-major program during her stay in Phoenix. GCU concluded the 2022-2023 season with a 21-10 overall record and 12-6 mark in Western Athletic Conference play with Jackson in an assistant coaching role.

GCU again boasted one of the nation's toughest pressure defenses in part due to Jackson's work with the Lopes' guards. The Lopes ranked fourth nationally in steals per game (12.7), ninth in turnovers forced per game (21.3) and 29th in turnover margin (4.3).

Success in the win-loss column has followed Jackson at each stop along her coaching journey. At Boise State, she augmented the Broncos' current streak of 10 consecutive winning seasons. Jackson guided Boise State to a 14-9 record in a 2020-2021.

Jackson teamed up with Campbell to lead her alma mater to its greatest era. She and Campbell had the Ducks on the precipice of a national championship run in 2019-2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. The Ducks finished the regular season with a 31-2 overall record and swept the Pac-12 regular season and tournament championships. Her first year with Campbell saw Oregon claim its second-of-three Pac-12 regular season titles and notch its first-ever Final Four appearance.

She worked closely with five WNBA draft picks during her second tour of duty in Eugene, including Sabrina Ionescu and Satou Sabally, the top-two picks in the 2020 draft, and Maite Cazorla, the 23rd overall pick in 2019.

Jackson cut her teeth in the coaching world via a four-year stay at Loyola Marymount from 2014-2018. She served as the Lions' director of operation ns for three seasons before being elevated into an assistant coaching role in 2017.

A native of Seattle, Jackson scored more than 1,000 points during her playing career at Oregon. She still ranks in the program's all-time top-10 records list for career assists (355) and steals (104). Jackson was twice chosen as the Ducks' Most Valuable Player and battled through knee injuries to receive All-Pac 12 first team accolades as a senior in 2012.

Jackson played professionally in Finland before knee injuries forced her to retire.
