For the 10th straight year, TCU Gives Day was a resounding success, celebrating the second highest year in donor participation. On Oct. 3-4, TCU surpassed this year’s goal of 2,023 participants — with 3,745 donors — and raised $1,841,767 overall for Lead On: A Campaign for TCU, the university’s most ambitious philanthropic effort ever. Gives Day also set the stage for TCU’s monumental celebration of its 150th and the culmination of the Lead On campaign this week.
The 24-hour Gives Day online challenge highlights the importance of philanthropy and how it impacts every student at the university. Along the way, Horned Frogs unlocked more than $570,000 in challenge gifts for each school and college, as well as those benefitting Black and Hispanic alumni alliance scholarships, the Mary Couts Burnett Library and Frog Club. Other takeaways from TCU Gives Day 2023:
- For the fourth year, TCU included high-priority designations such the Frog Family Crisis Fund and the Inclusive Excellence Initiatives Fund.
- There was an impressive turnout from TCU faculty and staff, with 737 gifts.
- More than 362 students contributed, as well as 730 current and former parents.
- More than 600 volunteer social media ambassadors helped exceed the goal.
- 75% of all gifts were $150 or less.
New this year: donor impact was highlighted with donor maps and leaderboards. These features allowed Horned Frogs to see top performing areas, class years, affiliations and even alumni chapters and clubs. In this friendly competition, the TCU family was able to see which Horned Frogs were the most active across the world. Mobile payments were also accepted this year for the first time through ApplePay and GooglePay.
Purple pinwheels were placed on the front lawn of Sadler Hall symbolizing the collective power of giving, each pinwheel representing one student donor who participated on Gives Day. These will be on display again this week during Homecoming and Sesquicentennial events.
