TCU Move-In Days Welcome 4,500 Horned Frogs

Posted on

Hi, Horned Frogs,

Wow – what a month it has been for Housing & Residence life! TCU welcomed nearly 4,500 students to its residence halls for the fall 2023 semester during the three move-in days leading up to the first day of classes, with an additional 600 moving in at other times. It was hot – but tempers stayed mild, and smiles were abundant thanks to the well-oiled machine that is the TCU move-in day experience. It was a pleasure to join the Housing team to help welcome our students and families and learn more about the process.

The TCU connection culture starts from the very first moment our students interact with us. I was impressed by the level of detail and planning that went into the multi-day event – as well as the welcoming and knowledgeable staff, student workers and student affairs volunteers who were all purple and smiles while serving students.

Here’s a look at move-in by the numbers:

  • Move-In counts by day:
    • Sunday, Aug 6 – 1,078
    • Saturday, Aug 12 – 1,902
    • Wednesday, Aug 16 – 1,449
  • 80 full-time staff
  • 185 student staff
  • 100 student affairs volunteers
  • 165-degree concrete on Saturday!
  • 2,016 bottles of water consumed

Now that our Horned Frogs are here, the entire division of Student Affairs turns their attention toward student support, development and the nationally renowned TCU student experience – creating a safe environment where all belong and thrive.

Lead On, Horned Frogs!
