Dear Campus Community,
Today, the U.S. Supreme Court issued their ruling ending the use of affirmative action in admissions at universities nationwide.
Texas Christian University’s commitment to building a community with a diversity of viewpoints and life experiences is vital if we are to educate individuals to think and act as ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community. An inclusive campus with a wide range of viewpoints and experiences leads to innovation, critical thinking, broadened perspectives and social understanding – values that are foundational for student success and higher education’s role as an engine of academic discovery.
To that end, our admissions process considers each student individually across a variety of factors, such as their ability to succeed at the university and how they contribute to our learning environment as well as our campus community.
For nearly two years, many across the campus have been studying the potential impact of such a change in the law on university operations. We have already taken steps to mitigate any impact on our mission. I anticipate our review will continue and will likely extend to others as we work together to ensure full compliance with today’s ruling. As leaders, each one of us contributes to TCU’s vibrant and welcoming culture, and together we will continue to prioritize the experience that we have so thoughtfully created.
Of course, this decision does not diminish our commitment to providing an exceptional academic experience within a welcoming and connected campus community that nurtures a sense of belonging and an opportunity to better understand the world in which we live.
Sincerely,
Daniel W. Pullin
President
