FORT WORTH –
Maria Coral and
Sara Gimena have been named Scholar All-Americans by the College Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA). Additionally,
Jenna Buchanan,
Kennedy Calcagno and
Anabella Veltcheva collected Scholar All-American Honorable Mention honors.
The Horned Frogs also achieved a team GPA of 3.2 or higher in the Fall semester to be named a Scholar All-American Team. TCU finished the Fall semester with a 3.58 team GPA.
To earn Scholar All-American status, athletes must have an individual GPA of 3.5 or higher and finish among the top 20 within their Division at the National Championship.
Both Coral and Gimena were assets to the squad in the program's first National Championship appearance. Coral excelled at Nationals and placed 12th with her time of 1:05:10.90 – the fastest of any Horned Frog at Nationals. Gimena finished 15th overall and second for TCU. The duo is the first in school history to receive Scholar All-American recognition.
Sophomores Buchanan, Calcagno, and Veltcheva earned CTCA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention honors after a stellar first season. The honor recognizes athletes who held a GPA of 3.5 or greater and placed outside of the top 20 at the National Championship. The three were crucial in TCU's inaugural season and aided the Frogs to a sixth-place team finish at Nationals.
