Four Horned Frogs Headed to Super Bowl LVIII

TCU has had at least one player in the Super Bowl in 10 of the last 11 seasons

FORT WORTH -- Four former TCU standouts will take the field when the Kansas City Chiefs face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas.

Offensive tackle Lucas Niang, who has played 14 games for the Chiefs this season, will be looking to win a Super Bowl championship ring for the second straight year. He was a four-year letterman (2016-19) for the Horned Frogs and an All-Big 12 selection in 2018. He played in 44 games with 27 starts in his TCU career and did not allow a sack his final two years.

Representing TCU on the 49ers are offensive lineman Matt Pryor, cornerback Jason Verrett and linebacker Dee Winters. Additionally, former TCU fullback Andrew Hayes-Stoker (1999-02) is an assistant defensive backs coach for San Francisco.

A five-year NFL veteran, Pryor has appeared in 15 games in his first season with the 49ers. Pryor was a Team Captain and Second-Team All-Big 12 as a senior for the Horned Frogs. He started the final 32 games of his TCU career. Verrett was a two-time All-American at TCU and the 2013 Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Winters, the Defensive Most Valuable Player for TCU in its College Football Playoff semifinal win over Michigan last season, has played in 15 games with 10 tackles in his rookie year. He totaled 246 stops in his TCU career and was First-Team All-Big 12 as a senior.

Twenty-three Horned Frogs have won Super Bowl championship rings, including 12 different players in the last 17 seasons. TCU has had at least one player in the Super Bowl in 10 of the last 11 years.
