No. 5 TCU Punches Ticket to ITA Indoor National Championships

Sixth consecutive ITA Indoor National Championship berth

Box Score FORT WORTH – No. 5 TCU dismantled Tulsa inside the indoor Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center to advance to the ITA Indoor National Championships.
 
The Horned Frogs silenced the Golden Hurricane 4-0, earning their sixth straight berth to the grand finale of indoor tennis.
 
TCU (3-0) did not drop a set in the Fort Worth Regional championship tilt. The Horned Frogs clinched the doubles point in short order on courts two and three. TCU then booked its ticket to the Big Apple with singles sweeps in the first, second and fourth singles flights. The match was contested as clinch-clinch, therefore rendering the bottom-two singles courts unfinished.
 
With the win, TCU moved to a 44-13 overall record inside the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center since head coach David Roditi took over the program. TCU also improved to 27-4 in home indoor matches since 2018.
 
Doubles Rundown
Jake Fearnley and Jack Pinnington took care of Tulsa's Alex Okonkowo and Timo Carlsson Seger via a 6-1 result on court two. Fearnley and Pinnington, now 4-0 as partners, built a 5-0 lead before ending the match on serve.
 
The 15th-ranked duo of Duncan Chan and Lui Maxted clinched the doubles point for the Horned Frogs out of the No. 3 post. The pair took defeated Gus Tettamble and Victor Tosetto of Tulsa, 6-2.
 
TCU is now 53-7 in doubles over the last three seasons. The Horned Frogs have not lost a doubles point on the indoor courts in two years

Singles Rundown
Fearnley put on a masterclass, defeating Pierce Rollins 6-2, 6-0 out of the top flight. The fifth-year senior was the first player off the court in all three of TCU's matches this week.
 
No. 3 Jack Pinnington secured TCU's third point on court two, downing Thiago Pernas, 6-3, 6-3. In the first set, Pinnington trailed 1-2 but won five out of the next six games to take control of the match
 
Lui Maxted earned the match-clincher in a gutsy performance vs. Callum Gale. Maxted, ranked 64th nationally, outlasted Gale in set one 7-6 before pulling away in set two via a 6-3 result.
