NEW YORK – Another year, another trip to New York City for Cam Norrie.
Norrie, a three-time TCU men's tennis All-American, was awarded the No. 16 seed in the 2023 US Open, which runs from Aug. 28-Sept. 10 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
The Brit is set to battle Russia's Alexander Shevchenko at 11:15 a.m. CT on Tuesday in the opening round.
His path to through the bracket features a possible second round tilt with world No. 77 Thanasi Kokkinakis of Australia and third round showdown with No. 25 seed Tallon Griekspoor of The Netherlands.
A trio of Norrie victories likely pits the TCU great opposite world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz with a ticket to the quarterfinals on the line. Norrie got the better of Alcaraz in the pair's most recent meeting. He defeated Alcaraz, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5, on Feb. 26 to win the Rio Open, his fifth career ATP Tour singles title.
Visits to Queens have become an annual tradition for Norrie, who starred on the purple courts from 2015-2017.
Monday's main draw appearance will mark his sixth straight US Open selection. Norrie achieved his best result at the sport's concluding Grand Slam in 2022, advancing to the fourth round behind a string of straight set wins, including a sweep of current world No. 4 Holger Rune.
Norrie holds a 7-6 career US Open record and is 27-23 in Grand Slams.
The British world No. 1, Norrie is the highest-ranked former collegian competing at the US Open.
All US Open matches will air on ESPN and ESPN+ across the United States and on Sky Sports in Great Britain.
