LEXINGTON, Ky. – TCU beach volleyball garnered success on and off the courts this season as the Horned Frogs earned the 2023 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award.
TCU was one of 66 women's beach volleyball teams to earn the honor and one of 1,333 collegiate and high school volleyball teams nationwide. The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
TCU is back-to-back winners of the award and earned USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award honors for the first time in 2022.
The TCU beach volleyball program has transformed into one of the most successful in the country over the last three seasons. The Horned Frogs went 37-3 and received their first No. 1 ranking in the AVCA Coaches and CollegeBeachVB.com polls and held that honor for six consecutive weeks during the 2023 season. Five Frogs have received seven AVCA All-American honors including AVCA Pair of the Year
Daniela Alvarez and
Tania Moreno this past season.
