TCU Earns ITA Team Academic Award

Lemaitre receives scholar-athlete accolade

FORT WORTH - For the fourth consecutive season, TCU's women's tennis team has been named an ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) All-Academic Team. In her first year as a Horned Frog, Tiphanie Lemaitre collected the 2023 ITA Scholar-Athlete award as announced by ITA Monday morning. 

"When our ladies join our program, they know they are also joining an elite academic institution," head coach Lee Taylor Walker said. "Not many universities are excelling in both athletics and academics, TCU is. I'm proud of the team for pursuing excellence both on and off the court this season. It says a lot about the type of people they are. Tiphanie holding down the top spot for us all year, being selected All-Big 12, and now this, speaks for itself. She's special."

In 2023, 1,513 Division I women's tennis student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 234 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
  • Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
  • Be listed on the institutional eligibility form 
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
  • Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
  • All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
  • All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
