FORT WORTH – TCU baseball's Ben Abeldt, Kole Klecker and Anthony Silva were named Freshmen All-Americans by D1Baseball at their respective positions. Abdelt and Klecker were selected to the first team while Silva was recognized on the second team. TCU led all programs with three honorees.
 
Coming out of the bullpen, Abeldt led the team with 32 appearances. He posted a 3.60 ERA to go along with a 3-4 record. In 55 innings of work, he struck out 71 batters and held opponents to a .237 average. A member of the Big 12 All-Freshman team, Abeldt was selected to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. 
 
Klecker, an honorable mention All-Big 12 performer, made 17 starts as part of 19 appearances. He posted a 10-4 record and is the first true-freshman pitcher to tally 10 wins for the Frogs since Matt Purke in 2010. Klecker finished the year with a 3.72 ERA in 96.2 innings of work, while holding opponents to just a .216 average. He registered 72 strikeouts on the season. He was also named a Freshman All-American by the NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball.
 
Silva played in and started 61 games at shortstop in his debut campaign. He hit .330 on the year, while knocking in 50 runs. He totaled 75 hits on the year including 11 doubles and seven home runs. He was successful in 17 of 19 stolen bases on the year. He earned an invite to the USA Baseball College National Team training camp. A second-team all-Big 12 Conference performer, Silva has also been named a Freshman All-American by the NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball.
 
In addition to Klecker and Silva, Collegiate Baseball also recognized catcher Karson Bowen on its Freshman All-American list.
 
Since arriving on campus in 2013, Kirk Saarloos has coached 18 athletes to Freshman All-American accolades.
